Economist and political scientist graduated from Swarthmore College. She has an MBA from Columbia University (New York).
Her experience in multilateral banking in structuring and directing investment projects in the public and private sectors, as well as in competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship were decisive during her performance as Presidential Advisor for Management and Compliance. There, she led the monitoring and management of the transformational initiatives of President Iván Duque, among which the implementation of the Multipurpose Cadastre, the implementation of the National Qualifications Framework and the fight against deforestation stand out.
Her professional activity has been linked to international organizations, especially the Latin American Development Bank (CAF), where she promoted credit for four countries and promoted the Business Innovation Promotion Program.
Before joining CAF, Alejandra Botero Barco co-founded and directed the Impact Hub Caracas, a coworking space for entrepreneurs. She worked at Mckinsey & Company, a leader in management consulting, where she participated in the design of planning and reengineering projects for different development programs, both economic and business.
In 2019, she joined the Government of Colombia and promoted the creation of the Presidential Council for Management and Compliance, as well as the transformation of public management in the regions, through the creation of 16 Compliance Units.
Among the different programs that she will now lead in the direction of the National Planning Department, the strengthening of Sisbén IV and the Multipurpose Cadastre, as well as the consolidation of crucial social programs for the country such as Solidarity Income and VAT Refund, stand out.
